The first new hospital to open in Washington, D.C. in 25 years now has the Summit Anchor Company touch.
Summit Anchor provided equipment and services for the newly opened Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center, GW Health — a collaborative effort to provide comprehensive full service medical care to residents in the Southeast D.C. area.
Frederick, Maryland-based Summit Anchor’s service package included design, manufacture, installation, certification and testing of anchors and horizontal lifelines for the state-of-the-art building located at 1200 Pecan Street.
Summit Anchor president Gus Strats also trained maintenance workers on working safely at height and on proper use of fall protection equipment.
“A lot of people have fall protection equipment but lack proper understanding on how to use it,” Strats said. “So making sure workers are trained on how to use fall safety tools and equipment is vital.”
Named after the historic Frederick Douglass residence in Anacostia, the $434.4 million Cedar Hill Regional Medical Center includes an 136-bed (expandable to 184) full-service hospital, with maternal health and delivery including a Level II NICU, a trauma center, ambulatory pavilion for physician offices, clinics, a 500-car parking garage, and a helipad for emergency transports, according to D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser’s office website.
The center, operated by Universal Health Services and with the The George Washington Medical Faculty Associates, provides care for all District residents and in particular, communities east of the Anacostia River.
